A Famine is a Hunger Crisis
The word “FAMINE” is used many times in the Bible, yet many of today’s generation has never heard of the word or know what it means.
A famine is a hunger crisis; a literal scarcity of food leading to starvation.
This could also be a spiritual famine, where we are starved from God’s Word, or a spiritual judgement where God withholds His Word or instruction.
Famines, whether physical or spiritual, do not just happen. They are triggered, sometimes by one major catastrophic event, and other times by several events that happen in succession.
In physical famine, weather can destroy crops, war can destroy infrastructure, economic collapse can cause people to lose everything.
In spiritual famine, divorce can destroy families, death can destroy lives, job loss can cause financial hardship, drug addiction can cause people to lose everything. All of these things can either cause people to draw closer to God or they can lead to spiritual famine.
A physical famine creates a hunger.
God can use a famine to cause people to draw close to Him. Repentance and Prayer, speaking directly to God is one the best ways to get closer to Him. Reading His Words and instructions are another.
Throughout history, people have read about famines in the Bible used by God as a judgement on His chosen people for disobedience to His Word or instructions. When faced with a famine, they fall to their knees in repentance and prayer.
A food scarcity is one of the biggest causes of famine. Famines are more likely in poverty stricken areas of the world. Some Countries are dry dessert areas that can’t grow their own food and have no resources to buy it. Famine is a way of life for these people.
Other countries that generally thrive can also suffer from famine. Though they may either grow their own food, or buy it with an abundance of financial resources, they may still be affected by famine if there is a major event such as drought, fires, floods, tornados, hurricanes, tsunamis, etc.
Worldwide catastrophic events simultaneously or in succession can lead to a worldwide famine.
This would lead to millions of deaths all over the planet.
Depression or financial collapse can cause a country to fall into physical famine. People would not be able to buy food, so farmers would want to sell their crops to other countries that could pay for them.
Unfortunately, under those circumstances, in most countries the government would seize those crops in order to profit from their neighboring countries, “for the greater good,” to help pull them out of a “depression.”
Although it may be hard to understand, one leading cause of physical famine is gas and oil shortages.
We all know that a gas and oil shortage causes the prices of almost everything to rise due to transportation costs. What most people may not realize is that the refinement of gas and oil creates bi-products that are used to make almost everything. This includes all plastics, nylons, most synthetic fibers, latex, chemicals and even things like fertilizer.

Synthetic fertilizer is used by almost all commercial farmers on their commercial crops. without it, the crops fail to produce. No crops mean no food. No food means famine.
God warns us in His Word to be mindful of the conditions of the world, and to stock up in the store houses during times of abundance. This is God’s way to help us be prepared of times of famine.
There are food items with long shelf life that can be stored for such emergencies. There are canning methods that can preserve food for years.
While these methods will not be able to save everyone, it may give you and your immediate family a better chance of survival.
Stay close to The Lord and listen to His instructions and follow them. That is ALWAYS the Best Survival Plan!
Spiritual Famine is what happens when we fall away or walk away from God.
Jesus shows us how to have an intimate relationship with God, the Father. Jesus made time to be alone with God regularly. We are supposed to do that as well.
We were never to turn away from Him or ignore Him. In Him, we have Life. Without Him, we have Death.
Whatever the catastrophic things that happens in our lives are, Jesus promises to be there with us through it ALL.
It is always our choice to walk in darkness or light.
One thing is certain, if we turn our backs on The Light, we can surely expect to walk in darkness.
We certainly cannot be “the light of the world” if we have no light.
God's desire is to have an intimate Relationship with YOU!
As we seek God on what He wants to share in this Ministry, He begins to show us the things that are on His heart. As we have shared over and over through every page is that “What’s on God’s heart is… YOU!” And, believe it or not, His biggest desire is for Him to be on Your heart. That’s it. It really is just that simple. That really is why He the Almighty God, Creater of the Universe, created humans in His Image.
With that being said, What does all of that have to do with a Hunger Crisis? Well, I’m glad you’re here and curious enough to find out. Throughout the Bible, we have seen a word used over and over and some of this younger generations have never heard this word and have no idea of what it means.
