about us
When God rescued our story and brought us together, we knew this was bigger than us. It was crazy how He did it ~ answering a prayer to simply “make every day like Christmas.” The beginning pages were challenging, but all the while God was working. The more we tried to understand Him, the harder things got. The only thing we knew was He had a plan. Slowly, He uncovered the vision. It couldn’t have come at a worse time … or a better one.
In 2020, our world suddenly changed. Economic crisis, a world-wide pandemic, children in masks, and closed church doors stopped us in our tracks. The condition of the world caused us to stand up, pay attention, and listen better. The mess made us reconsider our own life’s priorities. Suddenly every decision, and every change, brings everything under a microscope. Let’s admit it, the world got scarier that year. We wanted to live better. The burden of eternity weighed heavier. Surely there was something we could do.
Make no mistakes, we’ve always known we’re nobody special. We are just two really imperfect people. That’s just a fancy way to say we mess up alot. We are willing, but man, are we jacked up sometimes!
We are complicated, and a little weird. We have so many questions. We get really confused about this wild world we are in. We can be as much hood as holy. It’s a good thing God picks people like that. He did it all through the Bible, and we’re sure glad. It doesn’t make sense really.
All we know is somehow God saw every one of us fit to carry something. We’re just trying to be sure our love for Jesus drives everything we do. Whether the holy pages in His Bible, or a tiny cucumber on a plant, we just think it’s pretty cool that both are as God-breathed as the other.
Any website calls for an “About Us” page. We didn’t exactly know how to do that. It’s a little weird. We are just regular people. How can we tell you who we are?
Well, it would be fair to say there are things we like, and things we don’t. We get up in the morning with the sleepy snot in our eyes and grumble about the sun waking up so early.
Sometimes we drive too fast, and binge-watch the news too much. We don’t know everything. We eat more cake than we should, and gripe about the heat.
We put our clothes on the same way you do. We cry. We worry. We laugh. We bleed. We spill our coffee, and stumble through life.
Sometimes we actually get something really, really right ~ and we are really happy about that! We definitely aren’t super saints (as if there are any), but guess you could say we try.
We are just alot like you ~ out here in this great big world, working our way to the other side of eternity. It’s a rough journey. Some days it’s all uphill. Some days, it sucks. We just try to keep climbing up the rough side.
God blessed us with a BIG Family and a Fuller Quiver. When He blended us, He let us share 6 of His Best Creations ~ our Children. They added 6 more, our “Kids-from-Love,” and from them, God gave us 23 amazing BabyGrands! Our Family isn’t perfect, far from it. We have big problems and hard issues like everybody else. We struggle together ~ and sometimes apart. Our Family is messy just like yours.
In 2022, God called us into full-time ministry. We spent the next 15 months as Stateside Missionaries, House Parents on a Boys Ranch.
During those months, we were blessed to live with 42 of God’s Greatest Heroes.
These Children came to us by no fault of their own, most often due to the abuse and neglect of others. Their stories of strength and courage in the worst kind of horrors still bring tears to our eyes.
God used this time to teach us deep, deep wells from the heart cry of so many beautiful fighters. Never again will we take for granted the things most of us never give a second thought to.
Can we tell you there are CHILDREN among us who will try to sleep on a DCFS office floor tonight? That’s not an easy thing when you are wearing the scars of a horse whip beating from Dad.
Should we tell the story of the little boy who was far too old to be sleeping in his first bed?
Maybe if the world met our hero who had been homeless eating dirty trash filled with maggots, we could stop all our petty fighting.
As our chapter came to a close there, a bittersweet day lay before us. We thank God for our time inside those gates, and for every broken heart He sent us. Please pray for these Heroes. They are some of the strongest ones we know.
So, what’s the point?
In this life, we all live every kind of story imaginable. Some pages are wildly glorious. Others are ugly, tear-stained, and sin-wrecked. Through the years, we have learned some things, mostly through our own mistakes, and sometimes at the hands of evil. We just want to be sure it wasn’t all in vain. If you can be gentle with somebody like that, maybe you can help walk us Home.
Why this website?
This is simply our way of doing our best to step up to the plate. We ache to pick up the towel. We long to build Him a seat. We want to welcome His Presence, and see His Glory stay.
Our goal is to shift the focus from the problem ~ and there are MANY! ~ to The Problem Solver.
We want to think outside the box, yet line everything up with The Father. We dream of a world where all human dignity is protected, but we also know He warned us of times like these.
Time is winding down. The road is narrowing. People are waxing cold.
We really want to see an end to obsessing over stupid things. We don’t have time for that anymore.
We hate the puny one, and know the devil has been defeated by Jesus Christ. We love to give God’s enemy, and ours, every exposure and blow we can!
Can we go all in for Jesus? Let’s get our boots dirty, and dive into the righteous sea. We were not rescued to be silent. How many of us long to see a lost soul saved? Oh, how good it is when a wanderer finds his way Home! How long has it been since we saw a delinquent become a disciple?
This is our hope. We have a Savior who left The Light on. He wants to change all of us into better people ~ now and for the generations behind us. Most of all, we just want to speak the only Words which matter. HIS.
~With love, Barry and Tammy
Can we make the journey together?
Let’s walk
each other Home!
“Always leave people better than you found them.”
